Introducing Good News Goods
Texas Baptist churches will have the opportunity to host fair trade markets and provide consumable goods to their congregations through GOOD NEWS GOODS.
The CLC Texas Baptist Offering for World Hunger is partnering with Trade as One to give Texas Baptists yet another opportunity to live out the call of Christ when he said for us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. The mission of Trade as One can be summed up in this statement from founder Nathan George: “By bringing jobs to the poor we give them the power to control their destinies and to live with hope and dignity.” This missional business provides routes to western markets in America for over 70 producers of fairly traded clothes, jewelry, chocolate, rice, sugar, coffee, bags, scarves, household goods and many other high quality fair trade items. In addition to helping ministries and micro-businesses around the world, 10-20% of the proceeds of goods sold in Baptist churches as a result of this partnership will go to the World Hunger Offering and the World Hunger Education Fund.
Good News Goods (web site site launching soon) will be the place where your church can learn how you can support ministries and businesses helping those coming out of extreme poverty, human trafficking, civil war, modern day slavery and other global tragedies. The site will give you the resources you need to take action and will give you access to several missional micro-businesses supported by the World Hunger Offering.
